Introduction to advertising: blog task

1) What key conventions of print adverts can you find and what are the connotations or deeper meanings of each convention? For each convention, write about how it communicates meaning to the audience. See the Maltesers advert above for an example of how to do this.

-picture = picture of skittles in a packet on top of clouds in the sky and a rainbow made out of skittles.

- logo= the logo is skittles in all capital letters on the packet.

-background = the back ground is full of clouds underneath the skittles advert and behind the advert there is a big rainbow made out of skittles.

-slogan= The slogan "taste the rainbow" suggests that the skittles may taste good.

-colour scheme = the colour scheme is multi coloured which shows us that their product has different flavours.

2) What is the USP (unique selling point) for Skittles and how do you know? Does the advert use any of persuasive techniques listed above?

The USP is the is the rainbow with multiple coloured skittles.
